Luckily I spent a few hours yesterday cleaning up and prepping the recording system. Haven't used actual tape for a long time. 15 years probably.
It's strange to be recording on a system that doesn't require a 'Save' command every few minutes.

That's not even a small percentage of the changes in technique required when I don't have unlimited numbers of tracks and real-time effects available.
Feeling like the olden days... and wanting to get out the old boxes of tapes.

I'm excited to hear what you're creating on the 4-track. If my recordings were done that way, I'm sure they would reveal all (instead of some) of my musical weaknesses. I imagine it forces you to push the envelope and think in "new" ways.
This is so true. Weaknesses abound and are painfully obvious.
Thinking in new ways? Yes... Think jazz fusion. Latin jaz fusion even.
Rejected lyric of the day: "pirates never win"
Pirates never win, eh? I gotta hear the lyrics that made it in. Sounds awesome.
There are still plenty of lyrics about pirates, but that particular line didn't make the cut.
Sadly the song was complete before any lyrics of tigers or sharks made it in.
PS: pirates never win in the world I live in.
